Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic dental treatment that can greatly enhance the appearance of your smile within just two visits to the Smile Boutique Group. With this treatment you can improve the shape, size, color and even the alignment of your teeth with a procedure that is minimally invasive.

When to Consider Porcelain Veneers?

There are several reasons why porcelain veneers could be a good solution. For example, if you have teeth that are stained or discolored, and which will not respond well to teeth whitening. Porcelain veneers can improve the appearance of teeth that are too short or badly worn down, or which have become chipped. They can help teeth that are too small, or which aren’t quite the ideal shape. You may want to consider veneers for closing or minimizing gaps in between teeth. When only one or two teeth are out of alignment, porcelain veneers are a possible solution to fix crooked teeth, and may be a good alternative to braces. We sometimes suggest using veneers after Invisalign, for perfecting the appearance of your newly straightened smile.

Discovering If Veneers Are the Right Choice for You

An initial appointment will determine if veneers are the right solution for your needs. Our dentist will discuss your aims and desires for your smile and can gently examine your teeth. For treatment to be successful, it’s important your teeth are generally healthy and strong, and they shouldn’t have any large fillings or significant decay.

Planning Your Cosmetic Dental Treatment

The next stage is to decide how many veneers are required as for example, you may only want to have veneers on your two front teeth or perhaps you would prefer veneers on your bottom teeth as well as your top teeth. When you choose to have multiple veneers covering all the teeth visible when you smile or talk, it is often possible to change the overall shade of your teeth. We can advise you on the correct shade to choose, selecting a color to naturally enhance your appearance. If you only need one or two veneers but wish to lighten your teeth, then it’s best to professionally whiten your teeth beforehand so the shade of your new veneers can be accurately matched when they are custom-made in the dental lab.

The Veneers Procedure

Once planning is complete, our dentist will carefully prepare your teeth, often using local anesthetic to ensure you feel comfortable during treatment. To prepare your teeth, our dentist will carefully shape your tooth enamel, removing a tiny amount of enamel from the front surfaces of teeth to be veneered as otherwise your veneers could feel too big and bulky. After your teeth are prepared, a detailed dental impression is made, which is sent with your prescription to the dental lab. At this stage your teeth may be protected with temporary veneers. Your new veneers will be fitted and bonded in place during your next visit.

Will My Veneers Look Natural?

Your smile is unique and for this reason every veneer is custom-designed and handcrafted using the most advanced dental porcelain to closely replicate natural tooth enamel. Each veneer will be shaped to enhance the appearance of your teeth and your facial structure, creating a look that is natural and attractive.

Veneers: How Long Do They Last?

Most people will be able to enjoy their veneers for ten years or more, but you can prolong their life with good oral hygiene and by ensuring you visit us regularly for checkups and cleanings. One nice thing about porcelain is that it will not discolor so with the proper after-care your smile should look good for years to come.
